Open Monday to Friday for breakfast from 7.45am or 8am
and after-school from 3pm to 6.00pm
On arriving at The Abbey School around 8am, the breakfast bar is on offer to all the children until 8.25am. To promote independence the children are encouraged to make up their own breakfast with adult support available if required. The Breakfast selection offered is healthy and nutritious and consists of a selectionof toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, crackers, cheese and fruit juice. A variety of morning activities are available including arts and crafts, puzzles, reading, construction, physical play and outdoor play (weather permitting).
On arriving at Bell Street after school, children are offered time to rest and relax with their peers whilst having a snack and a drink. A healthy snack and drink is provided by the club and usually consists of a piece of fruit, cheese, crackers or children are encouraged to make themselves a sandwich choosing from a range of fillings.
Following refreshments children can enjoy a range of activities from gardening in the spring/summer, arts and crafts and cookery. If they choose to relax with a good book then this is fine too. In the better weather the children at the club often enjoy a trip to the local park at St James on their way back up the hill and sometimes have a picnic there too.
The Bell Street Breakfast Club and Bell St After-school Club offers a range of activities for children aged 4 – 11 years. We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where children are well cared for and can enjoy making personal choices on their play and activities.
The Abbey School Breakfast Club & Bell Street After-school Club is owned & managed by Elestar Services Limited (Trading as Flying Start Nursery & Preschool). As childcare professionals we work in close partnership with The Abbey Primary School to provide local families of the Abbey School with an extended childcare service. Two members of staff are present at all times to supervise the children and support them with their activities. From time to time students may also be present – all students are supported by a mentor and never left unattended with the children.
All staff are fully qualified in childcare or have plenty of experience working with young children. All staff have undergone enhanced police checks, trained to safeguard children and undergo strict recruitment checks to ensure they are suitable to work with children. The Afterschool Club provision is inspected by Ofsted (the regulatory body for education) and the service at the Abbey School is subject to Ofsted inspection under the school's own inspection cycle. The company carries full and current employer and public liability insurance.
